An Overview of DSU and SOW

November’s DSU presentation is prepared by Dr. Chris Dalrymple. It provides an overview of the purposes for Divine Science University (DSU) and one of its colleges Sharing of Wisdom blog (SOW).  His presentation is shared here.

DSU is intended to be more than just an internet web page.  DSU is a teaching tool for sharing the wisdom of its participants within a community of learning, sharing and growing/mentoring for, or to, those who are seeking knowledge or wisdom.  Where many learning institutions are focused primarily upon one set, or kind, of teaching, DSU is envisioned as a community of a wide variety of subject matter for humanity to consume as they desire.

Our first focus for DSU is education & sharing. The word education is derived from an ancient word indicating child rearing instructions.   As we are ALL children in the perspective of the divine, we ALL need instruction in social codes, and manners.  We all need training for work, occupation, and business as well.  We all need perspectives of Divine Science that resonate with us.

The word sharing indicates dividing of one's own and giving it to others.  Sharing may be knowledge, wisdom, or understanding on spiritual, physical, mental, emotional or any of a number of subjects.  DSU is about "sharing LIFE stories for Divine Science". This is sharing wisdom & experience for those who seek illumination in life by providing opportunities to gain knowledge, acquire wisdom and live with integrity.

The word divine pertains to the nature of deity (specifically it refers to shine, referring to sky, heaven, God).  The word science pertains to “cutting or splitting; dividing or separating” in order to know.  It is exploring the parts to better attempt to understand the whole.  Divine Science University explores the story of life relating to deity for better understanding the divine.  We seek to better understand the nature, function and energetic action of the Divine.

We desire that DSU become a network of independent service providers who promote their own services and educational programs, and who wish to share their insights, training, teachings and collaboration with other network providers. Where people searching for spiritual insight may seek and find the information that they need to make their own informed choices about spirituality, where there is sufficient participation that the probabilities are that somewhere on the network will be a place of interest for every spiritual seeker.  Divine Science University describes who we are and it describes our field of exploration. We desire explorers who give to the betterment of humanity, and the planet that humanity inhabits. We desire the participation of those who desire to mature spiritually.

Like a university we open our organization up to like-minded and divinely-spirited individuals and organizations who will join with DSU.  Like a college, each participant focuses upon the particular field of study they love.  Academies provide a place for training in arts, sciences, or higher learning. All participants of Divine U seek to act with awareness and connectedness, promoting good citizenship wherever we are living and operating.  We serve others in love, passing on universal knowledge.

In effect we desire to be a "research library" for seeking spiritual learning. As such I want to excerpt a few things from the article Treasury or Library? posted this month at sharingofwisdom.blogspot.com, one of our "colleges" that seeks to share a wide variety of wisdom resources. This article notes that it is common for people to find a club or organization that promises to let you into the inner sanctum of knowing…that promises to reveal to you all of the mysteries of life, and once having undergone initiation, many expect to be invested immediately with this sacred knowledge and without having to research it or put forth any effort. Many look at enlightenment experiences as something that happens from the outside in.  “Ok, you have performed all of the external ceremonies, HERE is all the internal peace you seek to find”, as if it were some present bestowed from an external source.

We need to look at enlightenment in a different way. It is a process of learning over time; and most of the joy is in the process itself.  Think of the joy you feel when you read something for the first time and have that “A-HA” moment, or when dwelling on a problem, you suddenly find a solution…an answer to the puzzle. It is incredibly rewarding and brings the joy of growing and can bring glory to the light of the universe.

The word glory describes a “shining forth.”  The glory of the light is the “shining forth” or “public display” of the character, nature and good things that are in association with the light of the universe; with the positive attributes that goodness brings – wisdom, love, creativity, beauty, strength, compassion and so much more.  Dwelling upon thoughts of such glory is the greatest source of our joy.  It is in contemplating the glory of the light that we are freed from our preoccupation with lesser things.  It is then that our anxieties and fears begin to lose their grip, our hearts come alive, and all things begin to find their proper place.  When we demonstrate all the things that make deity weighty and wonderful, deity is made manifest for US and those around us to see and experience.

Groups working to share the light provide a framework on which to build…a guide for living. They provide a library in which to research, not a treasury in which to hide away the riches bestowed by goodness. Such a framework offers a way to attain knowledge over time through learning, patience, and truth; and it does so without harming others in their search. This practice of perfecting (making whole) one’s self is ancient beyond record. The attainment of balance in one’s life…achieving happiness with yourself, without interfering with the happiness of others, and proactively helping others in their search for balance in their lives is that for which humanity should strive. It is a noble quest, the objective of which can only truly be obtained by those who are worthy and true…to themselves and each other.

This is the motivation and the desire behind DSU -- that we can serve as a place where others may seek to explore aspects of light that they desire to learn about.  We want to be a part of their quest for the attributes of light, and to help them to enjoy the journey.
