Following the invitation song Teach Your Children Well by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young we took a moment to breathe deeply together, to review our mission statement and opening intention, reading in unison.
We shared our welcome, mission statement and opening intention at 5:06 PM and reviewed blog and college updates at 5:05 PM. Chris reported that the SOW blog had new additions. We discussed a few of the new additions and changes being considered for 2026.
At 5:20 PM David discussed the various meanings and perspectives of a nursery rhyme Mary, Mary, quite contrary.
That the meaning of the word Gospel literally means “good story” and that it was written sometime during the second century. That a recently found fragment of a papyrus might be a missing portion of a portion of of some of the 10 missing pages of the documents. This portion includes the concept of “seek to mix water and fire and you will no longer appear as an image of flesh, but an image of the eternal in corruptible light, bringing together for you…intellectual spirits from two intertwined and dissolved elements”; and discussed the concept of nous. He also reviewed an SOW posting That’s Life… discussing the concepts of bios, psyche, and Zoe.
A bios is given life and becomes a living being; over time a psyche develops to help guide our psyche to help guide our bios on its physical journey; the Zoe is the sum total of it all: our bios our psyche and the divine vital energy that animates our physical being. At some point the bios is worn out or destroyed, but the vital energy and the psyche that developed from our experiences returns to the divine. Energy can only be transformed from one form to another, it cannot be eliminated into nothingness.
Discussion ensued regarding the nous, and spiritualizing the mind, and enjoyable and lively discussion was had.
