This Quarter’s Newsletter is FULL of new things to learn about and many things to consider. From the role of water in our health, to maintaining balance in a chaotic world, to cosmic energetic... there is much new to learn. And our Ancient Wisdom study series has been looking at one, if not the oldest written religion in the world, Zoroastrianism.
While we have not been investigating the religion of Zoroaster (Zarathushtra), we have been sharing his writings, The Gathas. While its original language may be a “dead language” scholars have been able to bring us a suitable translation/interpretation to share. Read about Good Mind, the history surrounding Zoroastrianism, and living by “good thoughts, good words, and good deeds” go make your life more promising. You will learn something if you dig.
There are other articles as well. We invite you to participate in our DSU weekly meetings on Wednesday at 5 PM. Here is the link: DSU Weekly Meetings
An article written by Peter Ragnar (a natural life scientist, Taoist, and Self-Master, and Author) and titled "You’re Not Demented, Just Dehydrated" explains that insufficient energy is the first sign that the blood tissues and organs are not getting enough water. Learn more about the role of water in physical and mental health in this article.
We seek balance with the chaos that surrounds us, but what IS balance? Balance is not a static, perfect state of rest. It is the ongoing capacity to adapt, to self-correct, and to maintain function while being pushed and pulled by unpredictable forces. It requires sensing deviations and responding proportionally. The articles in this series (listed below) looks at the work of Zarathushtra – The Gathas. The Gathas are a set of 17 philosophical songs, or poems, composed by Zarathushtra Spitama roughly 3,500 years ago. They comprise 241 stanzas of roughly 5,500 words (or ~9,000 English words). These are the thoughts and teaching of Zarathustra woven into poetry in order to honor the divine and enlighten the listener. They are the foundation of Zoroastrianism.
Rather than devise lengthy sermons or a list of how one should live their life, Zarathushtra decided to gift humanity with a guide to attaining the divine in oneself. He trusted each person to actualize this desire according to their own understanding and circumstances.
The primary purpose of the Gathas is to bring the person who studies and contemplates them to the realization of the Divine Wisdom immanent in existence. We are in the process of publishing all 17 songs of the Gathas along with its introductory and concluding material. A clarion call is made by an instrument named the clarion. Our closest familiarity to it would be the stereotypical bugle or trumpet. Such instruments were used to call the military to battle and for other purposes. Did you know that the Medieval song Scarborough Fair, an his adaptation written and performed by Simon and Garfunkel contains the lyric "sleeps unaware of the clarion call" in part of its description of the most difficult task of "undoing the effects of war."
